01 · Overview

What Pindrop does

Pindrop – Delivery Date App shows shoppers a real, location-aware delivery date right on the product page — before they buy. For Indian stores especially, "When will it arrive?" is the question that makes or breaks a sale.

A customer enters their pincode (or lets Pindrop detect it), and the widget instantly shows when their order will arrive, which city it's going to, and how long they have to order to still get the earliest date. Merchants control all the logic — zones, cutoff times, holidays, COD rules — from Pindrop's admin, and the widget matches the store's theme.

02 · Getting started

Install & first setup

From install to a live widget in a few minutes. No code, no manual URLs — the widget connects to the backend automatically.

1. Install from the Shopify App Store. Add Pindrop to your store and approve the permissions. You start on the Free plan automatically.
2. Add the widget to your theme. In your Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes → Customize, go to a product page, and click Add block → Pindrop – Delivery Date App. Drop it where you want the estimate to appear (typically just under the price or Add-to-Cart).
3. Set your base delivery times. In Pindrop's admin, define how many days each zone takes (see Delivery Zones). A sensible default is Metro 2 days, Tier 2 3 days, Rest of India 5 days.
4. Set your order cutoff time. Pick the daily cutoff (e.g. 6 PM) that decides whether "today" still counts for dispatch.
5. Pick a layout and match your brand. Choose one of the widget layouts and adjust colors, fonts, and button text to fit your store.
6. Test with a real pincode. Save, open a product page, enter a pincode, and confirm the date, city, and timer all appear correctly.

03 · The storefront

What shoppers see

The widget is the heart of Pindrop. Here's every element a customer interacts with.

• Pincode input + Check button — the shopper types a 6-digit pincode and hits Check. Invalid entries get a clear inline message.
• Delivery date badge — the headline result, e.g. "Get it by Tomorrow, 21 May."
• Delivering to [city] — confirms the destination, e.g. "📍 Delivering to Central Delhi" (district + state), so the shopper trusts the estimate.
• Urgency countdown — "⏰ Order within 5 hrs 31 mins to get it by Tomorrow," nudging the purchase before the cutoff.
• COD / prepaid context — timelines adjust depending on payment method where configured.

The display order is intentional: delivery badge first, then the city confirmation, then the urgency timer — the sequence that reads most naturally to a buyer.

04 · Core engine

Pincode-based delivery estimation

The core feature: an accurate, per-pincode delivery date instead of a vague "ships in 5–7 days."

What it is

When a shopper enters a pincode, Pindrop matches it to a delivery zone, adds that zone's transit time to the current date, accounts for the order cutoff and any blackout dates, and returns a specific arrival date.

How to use it (merchant)

1. Define your zones and the number of days each takes (Delivery Zones section).
2. Map pincodes to zones — individually or via bulk upload.
3. Set the cutoff time so same-day vs next-day dispatch is handled correctly.
4. The widget does the rest — every shopper sees a date computed from your rules, automatically.

05 · Location

City lookup & live location

Turns a bare pincode into a recognizable place, and can detect it for the shopper.

India Post city lookup

After a pincode check, Pindrop looks up the matching district and state through the India Post data and shows "Delivering to [District], [State]." This reassurance — that the store knows exactly where the parcel is headed — measurably increases trust at the point of decision.

Live location detection

Instead of typing, shoppers can let Pindrop auto-detect their city/pincode, pre-filling the widget so the estimate appears with even less friction.

06 · Conversion

Order cutoff & urgency countdown

The feature that turns an estimate into a reason to buy now.

What it is

A live countdown that tells the shopper how long they have to order to still get the earliest delivery date — e.g. "Order within 3 hrs 22 mins to get it by Tomorrow." Once the cutoff passes, the estimate rolls forward to the next dispatch day automatically.

How to use it

1. Set your daily cutoff time in the admin (e.g. 6 PM) — the last time you dispatch same-day.
2. Account for working days so weekends/holidays don't promise impossible dates (works together with Blackout Dates).
3. The timer renders live in the widget and recalculates as the cutoff approaches.

07 · Configuration

Delivery zones & pincode mapping

How you tell Pindrop that Mumbai is faster than a remote pincode.

Zones

Group pincodes into tiers — for example Metro, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Rest of India — and assign each a transit time in days. Pindrop picks the right zone for whatever pincode a shopper enters.

Bulk pincode upload

Rather than adding pincodes one by one, upload them in bulk to assign large ranges to a zone at once — essential for covering thousands of Indian pincodes quickly.

How to use it

1. Create your zones and set days-to-deliver for each.
2. Assign pincodes — bulk-upload a list per zone, or add key ones manually.
3. Set a fallback (e.g. "Rest of India") so any unmapped pincode still returns a sensible estimate.

08 · Payment logic

COD vs prepaid timelines

Cash on Delivery and prepaid orders rarely ship on the same timeline — Pindrop handles both.

What it is

Set different delivery timelines (or rules) for COD versus prepaid orders, so the estimate a shopper sees reflects how that payment method actually moves through your fulfillment — and you can even discourage or adjust for COD where it's slower.

How to use it

Open COD Delivery Settings in the admin, enable COD handling, and set the timeline difference (e.g. COD adds a day for verification). The widget then adapts the displayed estimate accordingly.

09 · Calendar

Blackout dates

Stops Pindrop from promising delivery on days you don't ship.

What it is

Mark non-working days — national holidays like Independence Day or Diwali, weekly offs, or any custom date — and the estimator skips them when calculating arrival, so promises stay realistic.

How to use it

1. Open Blackout Dates in the admin.
2. Add dates using the date picker; each added date appears in a list you can manage.
3. Save — the estimator automatically rolls delivery past those days.

10 · Design

Widget layouts

30+ pre-designed layouts so the widget fits any store's look.

Choose from a library of distinct layouts — compact bars, cards, minimal text lines, ticket styles, and more — each with its own structure for the pincode field, date badge, city line, and timer. Pick the one that suits your product page, then fine-tune it with customization.

11 · Branding

Widget customization

Make the widget look like a native part of your theme, not a bolted-on app.

• Colors — match your brand or theme palette.
• Fonts — align with your store's typography.
• Button text — rename "Check" to whatever fits your voice.
• Match theme — quickly inherit your storefront's styling.

How to use it

Open Widget Customization in the admin, adjust the styles, and preview before saving. Changes apply to the live storefront widget after you save and deploy.

12 · Precision

Product-level overrides

When one product doesn't follow your standard rules.

What it is

Override the default delivery logic for specific products — made-to-order items, heavy goods, or pre-orders that need a longer (or shorter) timeline than the rest of the catalog. The override applies only to that product; everything else keeps the global rules.

How to use it

From the product's settings in Pindrop, set a custom delivery time or rule. The widget on that product page reflects the override automatically.

Placement across the journey

The estimate can appear at every point where a delivery promise helps the sale.

Add the widget block on each surface you want via the theme editor, positioning it where it reads best.

14 · Safety

View limits & auto-downgrade protection

How usage is metered, and what keeps Pindrop from ever charging or breaking unexpectedly.

What it is

Each plan includes a monthly widget-view allowance. Usage is tracked and enforced in real time. If a store exceeds its plan or a subscription lapses, Pindrop safely auto-downgrades and re-caps the store to the correct lower tier instead of failing — protecting both the merchant and their storefront.

What you should know

• Views are counted per widget load on the storefront.
• If you cross your allowance, the app handles it gracefully rather than blocking the store.
• Downgrades re-apply the right limits automatically, so you're never silently over-served or over-charged.

Three tiers, each unlocking more views, layouts, pincodes, and features.

Plan limits and feature gating reflect the latest project configuration (Free updated to 5,000 views/month). The exact split of which features sit on Growth+ vs Pro can be tuned in the billing config and Partners listing — adjust this table if you change it.

16 · Reference

Admin walkthrough

Where each feature lives in Pindrop's backend, in roughly the order you'd set them up.

1. Delivery Zones — create zones, set days-to-deliver, upload/assign pincodes, set a fallback zone.
2. Cutoff & working days — set the daily dispatch cutoff and which days you ship.
3. Blackout Dates — add holidays and off-days via the date picker.
4. COD Delivery Settings Growth+ — configure COD vs prepaid timelines.
5. Widget Customization Growth+ — colors, fonts, button text, match-theme; choose a layout.
6. Product overrides Growth+ — set per-product delivery rules where needed.
7. Billing / Plan — view your plan, usage against the view limit, and upgrade or start a trial.

17 · Support

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The widget says "could not connect — please contact support."

This means the storefront widget can't reach the backend. Usual causes: the backend is briefly asleep/restarting, or a CORS hiccup. Confirm the backend is up, then reload the product page. Because the widget uses Shopify's built-in app URL, there's no manual URL for the merchant to fix.

The delivery date shows, but "Delivering to [city]" doesn't.

The city lookup isn't firing after a successful estimate. Ensure the India Post city lookup runs on every pincode check, and that the city line is positioned between the date badge and the urgency timer.

A pincode returns no estimate.

It isn't mapped to a zone and there's no fallback. Add the pincode to a zone, or set a "Rest of India" fallback so every pincode resolves to something.

The urgency timer promises a date on a holiday.

That day isn't marked as a blackout date. Add it under Blackout Dates so the estimator rolls past it.

I can't access Widget Customization or COD settings.

Those are Growth+ features. Start the 7-day trial or upgrade to unlock them.

I hit my view limit.

Pindrop safely re-caps you rather than breaking the storefront. Upgrade for a higher monthly view allowance.
